Our intention

Help Thanet households live free from damp & mould

This dashboard supports the Porchlight project by monitoring evidence on humidity, damp and mould in Thanet District Council’s area, tracking policy and legislation, and helping local partners deliver and evaluate a tenant-rights leaflet.

Our objective

Help tenants recognise a problem, understand their rights, record humidity and housing conditions, and get the right help to secure repairs or suitable alternative accommodation.

What this means for Porchlight

Three priorities for delivery

See the quarterly reporting pattern

Council portfolio only. Counts show reporting activity, not all Thanet damp or unique households. Full series, definitions and discrepancies

What we can monitor today

  • Published council damp and mould cases and delivery indicators.
  • Neighbourhood housing, fuel-poverty and vulnerability indicators.
  • Policy changes, implementation dates and public delivery commitments.

Still needed: household humidity readings, aggregated pilot cases, leaflet delivery and follow-up outcomes. These are not currently connected. A missing record does not mean no damp.

The intervention

A simple leaflet explains tenant rights, how to record humidity and damp, practical steps, and where to report a problem or seek support.

Community, faith and school leaders help share it, explain it and connect people with Porchlight and housing services. These are proposed routes; participation must be agreed.

The leaflet can improve knowledge and access to help. Landlords and housing services deliver repairs and accommodation.

Policy landscape and future work

Current duties, announced implementation dates and opportunities to influence future delivery have a separate section. Further interventions need their own evidence, resources and evaluation plan.
